Transforming Audiences, Transforming Societies

PURPOSE: the main objective is to advance state-of-the-art knowledge about the key transformations of European audiences that follow from a changing media and communication environment, further identifying the interrelations between audiences and the wider social, cultural and political contexts of European societies.

METHOD: the Action will coordinate European research efforts into the ongoing transformations of media audiences. Four interconnected topics will be addressed, each of them corresponding to one Working Group: (1) New media genres, media literacy and trust in the media; (2) Audience interactivity and participation; (3) The role of new media and ICT use in evolving social relationships; and (4) Audience transformations and social integration.

PARTICIPANTS: the Action has 30 participating countries and 180 active participants. Professor Klaus Bruhn Jensen, Vice Head of CCC, is a member of the Action’s Management Committee.
